It is time to kick off summer with tiki drink recipes and movie picks!

There is so much to discuss from famous drinks, restaurants, bars, snacks and tiki / tropical themed movies! I have a feeling that I'll wind up doing several of these because WHY NOT?

I was so fortunate to get author and tiki expert Liz Locke to join me! If you are interested in movie / cocktail pairings, you will want to check out her blog Cinema Sips!

Recipes

Liz says that Navy Grog was Frank Sinatra's most favorite tiki drink.

NAVY GROG

¾ oz fresh lime juice

¾ oz white grapefruit juice

¾ oz Club Soda

1 oz gold Demerara Rum

1 oz Dark Jamaican Rum

1 oz White Puerto Rican Rum

1 oz Honey Mix (1:1 honey to water)

Shake with ice, then strain into a glass with large ice cube or cone.

Liz tasted this mocktail at Strong Water in Anaheim and says it is excellent.

ANANA RISING

2 oz Pineapple Juice

1 oz Lemon Juice

1 oz Cinnamon Syrup

2-3 dashes Walnut Bitters

Shake all ingredients together with ice, then strain into a glass filled with fresh crushed ice. Garnish with fruit or pineapple leaf or flower (whatever you have!)

Special Guest

Liz Locke is the founder of CinemaSips.com, a weekly guide to cocktail and movie pairings, as well as a frequent contributor to Moviejawn. Originally from western Pennsylvania, she now lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and very adorable rescue dog. When not writing or watching her favorite classic films, she can usually be found with a cocktail in one hand and a book in the other. Her debut novel, Follow the Sun, was published in 2023.

Liz said he "Navy Grog" was very strong and Frank Sinatra would certainly approve! I forgot to take a photo of my mocktail, but it was tasty and refreshing.
